Welcome Tyler Menton

I am a Minnesota native and a 2010 graduate from the University of Minnesota – Duluth. My career started immediately after graduation, when I left my home state to work for Cargill at one of their soybean processing facilities in Indiana. On top of learning all the ins and outs of plant operations, I also had a chance to manage contractors on several projects. Eventually, I was given the responsibility of leading two operating teams, in two different processing departments.

My next Cargill stop was Wichita, KS where I devoted most of my time to the Process Safety Management program. My role included making changes in plant design and procedures to match NFPA 36 standards. This is also where I met my wonderful wife Megan and convinced her to stick with me for life.

Desiring to dig deeper into process design, I made the change to a Project Engineer role with Crown Iron Works in Minneapolis, MN. In this role I helped specify, design, and commission Crown’s proprietary soy processing equipment for end users all over the world. This led to travel opportunities where I got to visit “once-in-a-lifetime locations”—including Africa and Malaysia.

A move to southwest Missouri was commenced with the anticipation of baby number one in order for us to be closer to family. We landed in Rogersville, Missouri and I spent the next three years working in an instrumentation sales role with Vector Controls. This put me back on the plant floors developing relationships with Project Engineers, Automation Technicians, and Maintenance personnel throughout many different industries. Food and Beverage, Pharmaceutical, Chemical, and Water treatment plants were among the many plants I visited, which was an integral part in preparing me for a consulting role at ESC, Inc. This opportunity helped grow my technical knowledge around both instrumentation and valve technologies; showed how they fit into different plant processes; and also brought to light what a customer expects from a valued consulting partner.

The move to ESC, Inc. also came with a physical move for our family from Rogersville to the south side of Springfield, MO. We soon added baby number two in 2018, and the four of us are all but settled into our new surroundings. When I’m not at work, changing diapers, or working on the house I am usually taking the family to Wonders of Wildlife or Silver Dollar City. I also make sure to get back to Minnesota for some family time and ice fishing a few times a year.

Now, three months into my time at ESC, I’m excited to see the variety of projects that come through the door. I have a great group of people to learn from, whether it’s about project details, or how to troubleshoot something at my house. It truly is a family environment where people care about the person in the desk next to them. My goal is to add value to on going projects from my own experiences, as well as to deliver the best solutions for our clients. It has been great to continue relationships that started back in my sales days, and it has been a privilege to be involved in new facets of this business.
